This box is handcrafted in Dhokra. Dhokra is a non ferrous- metal casting using the lost wax technique. It is a tribal art form and has been practiced in India for over 4000 years and is even made today. There are two main processes of lost wax casting: solid casting and hollow casting. While the former is predominant in the south of India the latter is more common in Central and Eastern India. Dhokra art is named after the Dhokra Damar tribes, who are the main traditional metal smiths of West Bengal and Odisha. This product is suitable for gifting purpose.
